About Us
Monona Cares Coalition beginnings started with a key stakeholder meeting at the Monona Library in the Summer of 2013. Those that attended were from law enforcement, local government, civic groups, faith-based, community members, fire and EMS, school district and local businesses. From this first meeting the coalition has launched into prevention in the areas of underage drinking, the heroin epidemic, marijuana, illegal drug use and vaping.
Our past activities include town hall meetings, forums, prescription drug-take back events and Monona National Night Out events.
Partnering with Cottage Grove Cares Coalition has made a significant difference in reaching all parents of the Monona Grove School District.
FACT:
Two-thirds of teens who misused pain relievers say that they got them from family and friends, including their home medicine cabinets.
